The best things we can do for each other are often the things that take the least amount of effort, money, or time. For example, lift someone’s mood with kindness or humor, be patient with people we work with, live with, or are receiving services from, take a moment to thank somebody or smile, hold open the door, etc. Small acts of kindness usually occur instantaneously and without a complex structure or system needed. They have existed before the industrial and digital world, and if we want to continue existing in an increasingly complex and structural global world, and if we want to continue feeling connected, not isolated, and happy, not depressed, we should remember these age old secrets of our hearts and spirit.
